Impact of Free Position Delivery on the Progression of Labor and Delivery Pain in Primiparous Women during Delivery Room Nursing

Abstract: Objective: To explore the effect of free position delivery in delivery room nursing on the progression of labor and delivery pain in primiparous women. Method: 176 primiparous women admitted to our obstetrics department from December 2023 to December 2024 were randomly divided into an observation group (88 cases) and a control group (88 cases). The control group underwent traditional fixed position delivery, while the observation group underwent free position delivery. Compare the duration of labor, degree of delivery pain, delivery method, postpartum hemorrhage, and neonatal Apgar score between two groups of parturients. Result: The observation group had shorter duration of the first, second, and total stages of labor compared to the control group (P<0.05); The pain scores of the observation group during each stage of labor were lower than those of the control group (P<0.05); The natural delivery rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05), and the cesarean section rate was lower than that of the control group (P<0.05); The amount of postpartum bleeding in the observation group was less than that in the control group 2 hours after delivery (P<0.05); There was no significant difference in Apgar scores between the two groups of newborns (P>0.05). Conclusion: Free position delivery in delivery room nursing can effectively shorten the labor process of primiparous women, reduce delivery pain, improve natural delivery rate, reduce postpartum hemorrhage, and has no adverse effects on newborns. It is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
