Abstract: According to the design of one 750kV transformer substation structure, this paper proposes a new kind of composit space joint with spatial tubular joint and junction plate. To prove the strength and the ultimate bearing capacity of the new type of joint, some joints are selected as the representative ones from the transformer substation structure, then the numerical simulations for them are carried out using the FEM software ANSYS. Meanwhile, the affections of different geometric parameters of composit space joint to the ultimate bearing capacity are analysed and illustrated. According to all the work we have done, some proposals to improve and modify the Chinese standards will be given in the conclusions.
