Application of IoT Technology in Energy Management and Its Contribution to Sustainable Development

Full Text(PDF, 59KB)

Author: Yinghao Tang

Abstract: The application of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in energy management has significantly transformed the way energy systems are monitored, optimized, and integrated into sustainable development strategies. IoT provides real-time data through smart sensors, meters, and devices, enabling more accurate energy consumption tracking and dynamic control over energy usage in various sectors, including residential, commercial, and industrial applications. This paper examines how IoT-enabled energy management solutions contribute to enhancing energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, and facilitating the transition to renewable energy sources. Additionally, it explores IoT's role in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). By investigating both the benefits and challenges of IoT in energy management, this paper highlights its potential to support sustainable energy practices and create more resilient, efficient, and low-carbon energy systems.
