Impact of Interpersonal Trust and Institutional Trust on Farmers' Participation of Household Garbage Classification

Abstract: The classification and treatment of rural solid waste is the core content of the major task of realizing the "ecological livable" of the rural revitalization strategy, and is of great significance to promoting the sustainable development of rural economy and society. Based on the survey data of CLES2022, this paper takes the classification and treatment of rural household waste as the starting point, adopts the binary ordered Logit model for regression analysis, and empirically analyzes the impact of interpersonal trust and institutional trust on farmers' participation in garbage classification decision-making. The research finds that the two dimensions and four variables of trust positively affect the decision-making choices of household garbage classification and disposal to a large extent. The age of farmers, the perception degree of environmental responsibility subjects and the situation of family members also affect the participation of household garbage classification and disposal to varying degrees. On this basis, this study proposes to expand farmers' social relations, improve the rural environmental protection information disclosure system, and enhance the enthusiasm of farmers to participate in the classification and treatment of household waste.
