Full Text(PDF, 150KB)

Author: Youli Huang, Chao Liang

Abstract: The “Dark Triad”, a constellation of three conceptually distinct but showing close correlates socially aversive personality variables, consisting of three triad members: Machiavellianism, narcissism and subclinical psychopathy, is an important research achievement in the area of the dark side of personality. After introducing the Dark Triad of personality conceptually, we review the empirical researches at abroad, on the effects that Dark Triad has on employees’ behaviors and attitudes from the aspects of direct effects and indirect effects (the moderating effects), and build the relationship model between Dark Triad and work outcomes, and commend on the deficiencies of the research methods, the curvilinear model and personality traits dilemma. Furthermore, we gave some suggestions to the future researches which are: (1) engaged in the research based on the Chinese culture background; (2) putting forward a clear unified definition of the concept and standard of scale; (3) to further verify the applicability of curvilinear effect; (4) exploring the role of situational variables.
