Abstract: The desert vegetation is an important part for maintaining ecological stability in arid area. The research of typical vegetation in arid desert region of water transport process is important to keep the ecosystem in arid area. In this paper, we took the Haloxylon ammodendron and Tamarix chinensis as the research objects of the typical desert vegetation in arid area, and through the use of TDP stem flow gauge, the sap flow rate was monitored under the conditions of different groundwater table. We analyzed the diurnal variation of sap flow rate and temperature as well as the relationship between different growth periods of Haloxylon ammodendron and Tamarix SAP flow. The results show that (1) Different experimental sites of Haloxylon ammodendron and Tamarix the sap flow have different characteristics. In Oasis Area, the relationship to stem sap flow of Haloxylon ammodendron is in August >in July >in June >in September, and the relationship to Tamarix is in September >in August >in June >in July . In the 150 regiment of the edge of the desert: the relationship to stem sap flow of No.1 Haloxylon ammodendron is in June>in July> in May >in August while the No.2 is in May >in June >in July>in August. And the relationship of No.1 Tamarix is in August >in June >in July >in May while the No.2 is in July >in June> in May > in August. (2) Although the temperature has a certain influence on the sap flow rate, different experimental sites of Haloxylon ammodendron and Tamarix sap flow in response to air temperature is not the same. In Oasis Area, the sap flow rate has relation with the two times of temperature before 12:00 while sap flow of Tamarix velocity has power correlation with temperature after 12:00. On the edge of the desert area, the sap flow rate of Haloxylon has relation with the two times of temperature while sap flow of Tamarix velocity has relation with the two times of temperature after 12:00.
