Application and Development of Industrial Energy-Saving and Emission-Reduction Technologies under the Carbon Neutrality Goal

Abstract: Faced with the global urgency of climate change and greenhouse gas mitigation, China has committed to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. As the largest energy consumer and emitter, the industrial sector is critical to meeting these targets. This paper systematically reviews the current application status and development trends of industrial energy-saving and emission-reduction technologies, including process optimization, waste heat recovery, intelligent monitoring, as well as green low-carbon technologies such as carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), hydrogen energy, and renewable energy substitution. Through case studies in key industries like steel, chemical, and building materials, it identifies barriers such as financing, standards, talent, and market mechanisms that hinder large-scale deployment. Corresponding countermeasures, including innovative financing models, improved standard systems, and strengthened policy incentives, are proposed to provide comprehensive decision-making support for achieving carbon neutrality in the industrial sector.
