Abstract: It is undoubted that language, as an intermediate, plays an important role in today’s trading. Collins (1994) also supported this view that language smooths the process of trading and even contributes to the growth of global trading. This study will thus investigate how two opposite language phenomena, Englishisation and multilingualism, boost or hinder companies from conducting their business. We used secondary research and questionnaires distributed to employees in multinational corporations. We found that multilingualism tends to be the trend in future global trading and the company tends to apply languages used by countries with higher trading volumes. This work explains that language professionals are still highly demanded by society.
