The journal receives manuscripts written in Chinese or English. As for Chinese papers, the following items in English are indispensible parts of the paper: paper title, author(s), author(s)' affiliation(s),abstract and keywords. Abstract: “In Hard Times” is one of Lu Yao's masterpieces, and the Japanese translation of this work was translated by Lu Yao researcher Minoru Yasumoto. Taking the original work and the Japanese translation of “In Hard Times” as the object of study, this paper examines what translation methods the translator used in the process of trust, aggression, incorporation and compensation, based on the fourfold hermeneutic motion theory proposed by George Steiner and on relevant translation examples such as language, culture, and character depiction.
