Full Text(PDF, 29KB)
Author: Yan Liu
Abstract: T.S.Eliot was a famous poet who created a new era of poetry. He respected the tradition, criticizing literature from the historical dimension. Meanwhile, he concentrated on the present moment, worrying and reflecting on the modern civilization. Not only did he advocate rationalism, protesting against the overflow of romanticism, he also emphasized the expression of individuality which could generate strong artistic effect and diversified interpretations. Eliot stressed the importance of self-discipline in literature as well as personal emotions, gradually forming his own literary criticism views with continuing correction and supplementation.
